How should you go about choosing and caring for mulberry silk

I bought a silk pillowcase, but I’ve never washed one before. I’ve seen people say that silk can’t be machine-washed and requires special detergent. How do you all wash your silk pillowcases? Also, I’d like to know if you usually buy silk nightgowns. I don’t want to wear cotton ones in the summer because they feel a bit too hot. I’ve heard that silk camisole nightgowns are very comfortable—do any of you have experience with them? Where do you usually buy them?
